THE ANTARCTIC GEOSPACE OBSERVATORY NETWORK (AGONET)

AGONET is an international network of Antarctic observatories devoted to the measurement of geospace parameters which are important in the field of ionosphere-magnetosphere coupling. The minimum instrument complement at each site is a magnetometer (M) and a riometer (R). Ideally, however, a multi-spectral photometer (A) and an ELF/VLF (V) noise receiver will be included. A critical element to the success of AGONET is the provision of efficient methods for accessing the combined data sets and an AGONET Data Analysis Facility (ADAF) is now being established at IFSI/CNR in Frascati, Italy. AGONET and the ADAF have been described in STEP International, Volume 4, Number 2, February 1994. The estimated operational period for AGONET is 1992-1998. The contact point is:
